I have become somewhat of an expert on death. Not just because of the loss of my children but because of my role as a US Army sniper, who almost died May 3rd from an abdominal wound.
I kicked ass in law school. Study only for the tests. Actively study not passively study, meaning, find the format of the tests, especially previous year tests, and take the tests. No one can remember all the stuff in the books. Practice finding your information and presenting your information quickly, logically & ideally entertainingly, you may get more points!
For example if a test will be open book, have a decent indexing system. Remember, your whole grade usually depends upon what you can write in a book in an hour or two. So test yourself before hand. Write everything you know on a topic without reading your books and notes. Then review the book and notes for what you missed and then write everything you know again. For closed book tests I would use topic memnotics(spelling?)to organize my thoughts and topics, you know like musical notes, EGBDF, every good boy deserve favor. Or IRAC, issue, rules, analysis, conclusion etc.
Although your information looks overwhelming at first, it is a finite amount of information and you can know it all. However, re-reading your notes and books is a waste of time unless you actively pull the information out of your skull.
In practice, it never hurts to enjoy a good debate either. Litigators like to fight, win, and use the weaknesses of their oponents against them. Based on my forum posts, how do I rate?
Best of luck, my friend!
My dad had been a smoker since he was 12. He'd been ill the last few years with COPD causing. It made him struggle with his breathing. But it got worse so gradually we didnt notice how bad it had become.
He suddenly felt really tired when he woke up one morning and spent all day in bed. He got steadily worse so we called the doctor out. He was rushed to hospital and we watched him die over 10 days in intensive care on a ventilator.
It really fucked me up last year. I stopped working for like 9 months and i was drinking quite heavily for a while.
It has made me a stronger person because i was forced into a lot more responsibilities.
It makes you realise how precious life is, so i found myself doing things id always wanted to and really pushed me into being more confident.
But it takes time, if you were close with your Dad like i was with mine. Its even harder, i felt like id lost a best friend as well as a Dad.
You have to find your own way of grieving, theres no right or wrong way to deal with things.
For me i found it helped a lot making collages of my dads pictures, helped me feel his presence.
I wrote him a poem. That helped me bring out the deep down feelings and understand them.
I also made a cd of all his favourite songs and songs that make me think of him. I play it every now and then.
The biggest thing that helped me was that i wanted to make my Dad proud so i tried to look after my family the best i could and sort out my own life.
Take it easy man. It does get easier with time.
