No that's not a stupid question, and yes that is me in the photo.
Froehliche Weihnachten!
I prefer to see bands in a smaller venue. I feel more part of the show. Outdoor festivals are nice for visiting and people watching but are poor for actually enjoying the music. Very few bands have the experience and the sound systems to pull off the large shows. lollapalooza is coming in August but I've yet to make the Chicago shows. Also in August is the Harley Davidson reunion on the same Summerfest grounds. BRMC is playing that show.
You can't camp there. It's actually a permanent venue on the lakefront that hosts various festivals during the year. I didn't make it this year as I was traveling at the time. I live about 20 miles from the grounds. Harley Davidson is having a festival there in August and BRMC is playing.
I saw Tom Petty open for Bob Dylan many years ago. He puts on an energetic show, worth seeing at least once. Summerfest covers a wide variety of music. One stage for local music. Main stage for the big acts. One stage for oldies. Several other stages for the bands you and I would probably like. The smaller stages are the best because you can get up close if you're lucky. More audience interaction.
Too many bands to list. Check summerfest.com for the lineups and details. The festival is eight days long on the shore of Lake Michigan.
Bis zum nächsten Mal - cheerio aus dem Westen :-)
You were fortunate to see the Amsterdam show. I've never been there, but I have been to Germany. Worlds largest music festival (Summerfest) starts here tomorrow. BRMC returns in August.
Greetings from Milwaukee.
